Beaches are perhaps my favorite photography subject. I’ll never get tired of looking that the ocean, or hearing the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. I also enjoy listening to the seagulls. Must be because I grew up in the desert.
San Diego was only a few hour’s drive from Tucson. Each time I went I had friends who were eager to come along. Sometimes we’d go sailing. Other times we’d take a bus tour of the historic parts of the city or visit SeaWorld. However, no trip to San Diego was complete without spending a day at the beach.
This photo was taken on a beach day. The weather was perfect. Warm, but not too hot, and no fog. We had bright sunshine for the entire day. I snapped a few photos, although I mostly spent the day relaxing. Toward the end of the day, as the sun dipped closer to the horizon, it was time to pack up. I grabbed my camera to shoot a few last photos, and managed to get this amazing shot of a few seagulls on the beach.
Sometimes you get lucky. All the elements for a perfect photo fall into place at just the right moment. This was one of those times. It wasn’t until I uploaded my photos that I realized I’d captured such an amazing image. It’s one of my all time favorite photos.
